Dress Code

To help create the best learning environment for our students, the Howell L. Watkins Middle dress code must be followed by all of our students.

Tops:

  • Collared shirts, blouses, and tops of any color or appropriate print.
  • Only HLWMS or school club t-shirts without collars are permitted as exceptions.

Bottoms:

  • Docker style pants (knee length), shorts, and capris are permitted.
  • No jeans allowed.

Shoes:

  • Athletic style shoes are recommended. Shoes must have closed toes and a back.
  • No Crocs, flip-flops, sandals, slippers or high heels are permitted.

Headgear:

  • Hoods are never permitted to be worn on campus.
  • Inappropriate head coverings (do-rags, bonnets, bandanas) are not permitted on campus.
  • Only plain, solid-colored hoodies (blue, orange, or white) with no emblems or graphics are allowed. Hoods may not be worn on campus..

ID Badges:

  • All students are required to wear a school identification badge at all times during school hours and on school grounds for safety reasons.

Backpacks:

  • Only clear or mesh backpacks or carrying bags will be allowed. 
  • Materials not meeting this standard are a potential safety hazard and will be confiscated by the school administration.
